FEBRUARY WINTER SERIES
The date of the February Winter Series has been changed to the following weekend (25th & 26th Feb) with an
extended entry deadline of the 18th Feb.
Please make every effort to enter.

There will be no tennis coaching over the half term holiday (Sat 18th Feb – Sun 26th)inclusive.
The Feb Winter Series will be played from Fri 24th Feb – Sun 26th Feb.

Latest news from Billy Harris – he has been training at the International Centre of the Federation of Catalan Tennis in Barcelona, known to everyone as the CIT. A copy of his training schedule looks tough. Breakfast by 08.30 on court and warming up for 30 minutes. Fitness training and tennis until 17.00, with a 90 minute lunch break half way through, short tea break,then 45 minutes fitness training. Billy is in Chisinau, Moldova this week playing in a Grade 2 ITF. Also playing doubles with Callum Poland-Smith (Middx). Then next week he will be in Lithuania for another Grade 2 ITF event. Billy is still looking for sponsorship to help with the costs of travel, training and equipment. I will pass on any offers from companies to Billy, for which I know he and his parents would be very grateful.
Another Albany junior, Laura Feely, was in Birmingham last weekend playing in the AegonU18 Girls singles. Laura lost her 1st round main draw match 4-6, 7-6, 5-10 against Melanie Vaxevanakis (Surrey) the no. 3 seed but it took two and a half hours! However playing really good tennis Laura went on to win the consolation event with wins over girls from Hampshire, North Wales and Yorkshire. This was Laura’s first event of the year as she is busy revising for A levels and visiting Universities. The next event will be in Sheffield. Laura wishes to thank Panacea Pharma Projects, Albany LTC and IOM Sports Aid for their support.
Put a date in your diary – membership renewal BEFORE March 31 will earn a £10 discount. All fees – except the Mini Tennis group – are remaining the same as 2011/2012. Mini Tennis will be £60 for the year. Renewal forms will be e-mailed to everyone or posted.

The first Junior Open tournament of the year sponsored by Nedgroup Investments (IOM) limited will be held from Monday March 26 – Sunday April 1 .Closing date for entries is Monday 12 March. Enter on line.Events are Boys/Girls Singles/Doubles 11, 12, 14 & 18 & under plus Mini Tennis Red, Orange and Green. Please put your entries in early – it helps the organizers so much. Now is the time to test the skills you have learned during the winter coaching.
